My, no, OUR Big Fat Geek Affair!

It’s overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hello all, since I am seemingly quite free now (keyword: seemingly!), it is my duty to blog about the Annual General Meeting which happened on 3rd July. The main committee and subcommittee members worked real hard for this event, we were pleased to know that the event was well received!

Thanks to everyone who came and supported us, we lubx you forever! To those who didn’t come, you missed out some great fun! No worries, there are plenty of opportunities for you to come and see for yourself the kind of awesome stuff HSSSC planned for all of you!

First things first, if you’re reading this, please tell the others about this blog! This blog can only be kicking if ALL HSS Students are reading it!

Right. So the event started out with tons of preparations. All of us met in the morning to run through what was going to happen...

After much diligent (ahem) work, it was finally time to start preparing the Audi 2 for the AGM. It was a mad rush because we were told that the Audi was booked till 5.30, when it was free all along!
And much rushing and stressing out (some more than others!), the event eventually commenced! It went smoothly with tiny technical glitches, but it was short and sweet, just the way I like it! :D

On behalf of HSSSC, I’d like to thank a few people.

1) The advisors for supporting us in every step of the way. It wasn’t an easy journey, but we managed to pull it off with the constant support and encouragement from these awesome duo!

2) Mary Lim & Ser Mu Ying for an AWESOME performance! I actually got goose bumps from listening to them, they were THAT good! Or maybe it was just the freezing audi. THEY WERE AWESOME ANYWAY!

3) Mr Edmond Khoo for being the nicest director alive!

4) Huda for the AWESOME invites (seriously, they’re the best!!!) and of course, the waaay amusing speech.
5) Shu Yun for being such an awesome sport despite my tendency to add really unglam photos of her in the video! Thanks for presenting the finance report & requesting for proposers and seconders!

6) THE BEST EMCEES EVER; Hakeem & Tiara. These two are born for each other! You should know, our original emcees were out sick at the last minute. We told Tiara the night before & Hakeem two hours before the AGM! And they still made it happen. From the bottom of my heart, thankssssssssssssss guys!
7) The main and subcommittee of AY09/10 for putting in such hard work in making this even happen. I’m looking forward to working with all of you!

8) And of course, all who came to our event! The awesome P10, the super cute HSS students & staff!

Uhm, pictures stolen from Facebook! Heh. Thanks Huda, Christianna, Komathi and more!
What do you guys think? Did you have fun at the AGM? How would you rate the entire event? How can we improve for our next event? Please feel free to tag, you can be anonymous, but BE NICE! We'll take the suggestions very seriously, so please tag away!
The same few people have been tagging, we want to hear from the rest!

Let's throw apples at H1N1!

Hello dearest HSS students (& staff, perhaps)!

As you have heard, some of us have joined the very exclusive Q-Club where the requirements are to stay in our boxes we usually call home and use our very precious given time to complete our highly complex reports, projects, and any other work which can be done online (Year twos read: SOCIAL PSYCH SDL + RMB ASSIGNMENT ONE need SPSS!)
Okay back to serious business.

Encouragement
As you all know, H1N1 is a bad thing to have at this current moment, and for the two students who have tested positive for it, please GET WELL SOON! As for the rest, go get hold of both their phone numbers and spam them with encouragement! There's nothing better then receiving texts that show your friends' care and concern for you, so DO IT. :D Besides, we're from HSS. We're destined to make others feel better. ;)

H1N1? Can that be eaten?
For those who are naturally oblivious like me, towards what is happening globally, please google/wiki it (yes, not reliable I know. But it doesn't require APA formatting, so).
Here's the link.

As for those with LOA and haven't checked your TP emails (though I DON'T SEE WHY):
Please note the following instructions from Miss Elizabeth Tan:

- Based on 7 days from the last contact with the above student, your LOA will end on Friday (10 July). You will return to school on Monday (13 July).

- We strongly advise all of you to exercise social responsibility during this time. Please stay at home during your LOA and closely monitor your health. (MEANING DON'T GO OUT TO MEET YOUR FRIEND FOR A BUBBLE TEA SESSION PLEASE)

- You are to take your temperature twice a day (9am & 1pm) starting tomorrow, 7 Jul. Please sms or email both temperature readings to your respective Care Persons (CPs).

- If you have any enquiries regarding the H1N1 influenza, please contact the MOH hotline @ 1800-333-9999. You may also check out the MOH website: http://www.h1n1.gov.sg/homepage.htm for more information about the symptoms, treatment etc. If you develop any H1N1 symptoms, please see a doctor at any of the polyclinics, or any of the Pandemic Preparedness Clinics (PPCs). A list of the PPC can be located at http://www.street-directory.com/hpb.ppc/.

-Please check your TP email regularly (at least twice a day) during the LOA for instructions relating to the H1N1 influenza. You will also be informed of alternative arrangements for lessons that you will be missing as a result of the required LOA.

Alright, think you get the gist.

Please please please take care of yourself! Drink loads of water, and take supplements if you have them, and don't expose yourself to germs if you can help it!
Oh, and remember to do all your assignments. We wouldn't want to use this as an excuse to slack off and allow the GPA to drop, do we? (o:

Finally, let's be strong as a HSS family, and build up our culture of UNITY, and prove to the world that we're small but MIGHTY where nothing fazes us because we've got our AWESOME friends and lecturers as strong pillars of support (and we can tell other schools to go build their own pillars)!

Love you all ^_^
